Still a far cry from being quite prepared for
installing all officers, but at least I have a good “line” already formed, and
I believe I´ve nailed all other officers for my year… as we are going to have
our Christmas/Summer break in just 3 weeks, I believe I am going to talk to the
“future” officers just next year, when we resume our activities in February…
I´ve had this idea of inviting a few PMs of our
Lodge and our sister Lodges for a very informal Lunch at home with their
families, and take advantage of our time together to ask for some advice on how
to manage and rule a Lodge during my year in chair…
Another thing I´ve done: I´ve put together a
list of guests for my installation, that point can become a touchy subject in
Brazil… Lodges under the Brazilian constitution don’t ever charge visitors for
the festive board, whereas in some English Lodges that is not the case… that
means I´ll have to make it clear I´m inviting a certain Brother and in case he
wants to bring another brother along, he will have to inform his guest of our
Lodge rules, regarding festive boards…
Last, but not least I´ve come up with the
agenda for the 10 meetings I´ll have ahead of me… differently from most London
Lodges, with only 4 or 5 meetings a year, in our district most of our craft
Lodges hold an impressive 10 meetings a year! That means, at least for me, a
few of the meetings will be much more of an LOI than a proper ceremony…
We have an EA in Lodge at the moment, that
means he´ll be a FC in the next few months, and I´ll be able to raise him in my
year… and we´ve just read an application for a candidate, that´ll provide me
with a 2nd degree next year… and I´ve been having some nice chats with a young
gentleman, who seems to be starting to get interested in the craft… that might
mean a 1st degree…
Basically now, it´s all about studying the
ritual for the installation… as the craft ceremonies are more or less well memorised…
Catch you later
